Hi everyone,
this is my second subaru, i am about to pick up a 94 Legacy GT wagon for my dad but it has a blown transmission.
what year's will fit into the legacy.
it's the 4eat auto trans.
i have not really checked it out yet, just what i've been told by the owner.
but i am handy with my hands when it comes to cars.
i am thinking about rebuilding it but when i call around for rebuild kits im told they vary with whats included.
now my next question is whats the common fault of these 4eat trans?
clutch pack? syncro's? valve body?
just trying to get an idea what im up against.
any idea's are welcomed.
thanks and have a great day.

Welcome - might help to tell us where you're from, because in the USA the GT didn't exist until 1995/96.

As for the trans, the common failure is heat frying the clutch pack, or DutyC sol. Any vehicle that used a 4EAT can be used as a donor to replace the broken one in your car.

hi sorry
i am in california and that's what it say's on the back emblem.
not sure where the vehicle was originally from.
not sure if this helps but it's the Legacy Wagon GT Turbo.
so when u say any 4eat can u narrow it down by year's?
i am prob going to go to pick and pull and try to piece one together.
any common problems on the syncro's or valve body's in the 4eat's?
let me know if there is n e thing else i forgot to mention.
here's a pic of the wagon. sorry for the bad pic but it's on my phone.
once i get it back to my house i'll post up better pictures

would a 2004 impreza 4eat transmission bolt on?
found a local deal for tranny and rear diff with 63k for 600.
