I have a 2003 Legacy L 4 door I'm looking for a muffler that isn't a cannon or really loud just a nice "purr" so to speak. Any ideas

Well a tip wont purrr you are going to have to find a nice axle back to buy. I believe there is a axle back thread in the exhaust section.

I have an OEM STI Axle Back I can let go for $200 plus shipping. You'd need to have an exhaust shop move the hangers, and rotate the flange to fit your car but it should be less the $50 to mount. It's in the Classified section here if you'd like to take a look.

It'll fit on my car right?

Not to be butting in and screw up your sale, but I think you may be asking too much for a stock axleback. I see axlebacks going for 80-100 daily on NASIOC. I actually PMed an 05 STi part out guy and he wants $85. Best bet is to shop around. Hell I bought my Wrx Borla ss catback for 50 bucks! Start on craigslist and start going on sites with model specific cars to find stock parts. You can also get a custom cat back built at an exhaust shop for about 300 bucks.

Nah you're fine man. It's not mine I just put it up for a friend and that's what he wants for it.
And yes, it will fit your car but you will need to have an exhaust shop move some of the hangers and rotate the flange.
Ninja edit: httrdd, I just looked at the post and realized I made a mistake, and wrote axle back instead of turbo back. Thanks for the heads up! :smt023

Any axleback muffler from a 2005+ STi or WRX will work, just have the exhaust shop rotate the flange, move the hangers and you're golden. You'll get a little more rumble and a little purr on idle.
You don't "need" anything else, despite what people will tell you.

Not to interupt but I got a question mufflers make noise if I'm right does diameter effect pitch and the muffler sound?
