For those of you who read my first post i just learned that the camshafts are in fact not interchangeable. So I just put delta cams into my engine set the timing went to turn over the engine and the number 1 cylinder intake valves hit the piston after 360 degrees of crankshaft rotation from the timing mark. I am out of solutions as to why this could be happening. Any input from you guys about what I did wrong. I went over the timing 5 times, the camshaft sprockets are on the correct sides, the camshafts have to be on the correct sides, the heads are identical so i didn't switch those. What else could it be?

Did you try calling Delta Cam by chance?

I tried but they must not be open on weekends
I can figure nothing out besides that the cams were ground wrong or I got the wrong ones back. I have done more expiramenting and the intake valves hit on all cylinders. Not just number 1.

OK I may have figured it out. First question is what does the timing mark look like on the camshaft sprockets? Both sprockets have an arrow more toward the center (the FSM says that when the arrows are pointing straight up cylinder 1 is TDC compression) and a little line on the outer ridge. The whole time I was using the little line as the timing mark, however i tried using the arrows instead and now everything works fine. So am I supposed to be using the arrows or is it back to the drawing board?

It sounds like you timed it wrong. I just put cams in too. Each cam sprocket has a line in it. Those should point straight up. And the crank has an arrow or a square. I can't remember. And that goes up too. Good thing you tried turning it over before just buttoning her back up.

Ya I got it figures out now. I was using the arrow on the crank sprocket as the timing mark but the actual timing mark is a little square as you mentioned. So it's all set and the engine is getting dropped in tomorrow.

I got the 1500grinds which is their mildest grind and helps with low end torque.
