Hey guys. So after all those issues I had a few months ago. When my head gasket went i blew a rod bearing.. :/

So. Went to Subaru and bought a brand new short block (complete). And used my old heads. (just completely rebuilt with valves and stage one delta cams)

Everything is functioning properly. But it still seems like she takes her time

Sometimes it's hard starting. And sounds like it's going to stall when you start it. (sometimes if you don't hold the key long enough it actualy chokes and doesn't start on the fret try) Or has that stall sound when you shut it off

On the road just cruising. The car will ride at like 1200rpms. And just bog like a bastard. Alway feel like it's in one gear too high

There justseems to be some sort of drag. Ands it's frustrating me greatly.

It def hesitates and bogs if you try to go from like 20 to 30 with a bit of pep. She just chokes

Any ideas guys? Everything in this engine is practically new.

I was expecting the cams to make her peppier. Not old.. Haha

CEL on? Also is it an automatic? If so maybe something was not connected back up when you did all your engine work and the TCU is putting it in the wrong gear. Otherwise maybe its just something disconnected, corroded or loose giving the ECU a weird signal. Possibly the airflow sensor?

Auto. And no lights. And I'm positive everything is hooked up properly. And I cleaned the sensors because of the blow by I had when I blew the ring landing.

Well, delta cams open up more, which will benefit your high RPMs, but I don't know that they'll really do much for the lows, especially 1200 rpms. On my Subaru, that's lugging the engine (anything below 1500 is). Sounds like your TCU isn't liking your new engine much...

Have you serviced the transmission? That'll probably help the low RPM/bogging/sluggish issue if it is the transmission causing the problem. A friend of mine with a 2000 Outback and the 4EAT was having a lot of similar issues, and an auto tranny service did a world of good.

I'm just spitballing here...

Yea. I think it needs a service. Baad. It's been like 70k

And the tranny seems to stay in lock up everyonce in a while. And if you go from neutral to drive and try to move quickly the tranny slips.

What grind spec on the cams did you get? Torque or HP?

Stage one

Those should be fine - idle will be normal. It's quite possible that your TCU is in limp mode for some reason.

Even with cams your 4EAT should not be slipping in between shifts / level selection.

Drain / Fill / New Filter / Reset ECU

Then get back to us
