Ok, I figured this was gonna be easy, but I have been trying to figure this out for way more time then I should need to...

Ok, so I got the harnesses for the doors. Thats been done. I ran the 2 new wires to the door plug on both doors. however the same wires I added dont exists on the plug's for the doors, inside the car. I Also traced the wires back from the switch to see what ones might not be hooked up and they are all there.

I just spent a obscene amount of time pulling a complete dash harness out of a 97 BG at the yard. I found the 2 missing wires I didnt have in my door plugs, but all the same wires are pluged into things they need to be, other then the door plugs. These 2 wires do have a split and run to a couple different places on the heated mirror cars, but I for the life of me cant figure this out.

I'm also going to be adding heated seats, but that will be another day. I knew I had the wiring in the console for the switches, but dont see the plugs for the seats...

I'm more worried about figuring out the mirrors, but if they tie in with the seats I'll do them all at the same time... Any help would be great! :smt023

Are you installing USDM mirrors or JDM?

I already got OEM wire in the doors, it's just getting past the plug in the kick panel. I'm also gonna be doing heated seats also and I think they are incorporated into the mirror harness.

I'll read through it again though and see if I can make it work. I know where they should go, but to make it OEM, it's a PITA! Thanks though!

So I have started down this road as well. I got a stock heated mirror switch and a set of mirrors from a junker only to find there are some air gaps in the wiring in the car. From the switch, the wires go into the instrument harness, those wires are there. The instrument harness plugs into the bulkhead harness and the wires are not on the bulkhead harness on a non heated mirror car. And you found that they are not in the door harness either.

So you have replaced the door harness already, that is good. Now all you need to do is run the two wires to the door harness or replace the bulkhead harness.

I would recommend looking at the service manual. The wiring diagrams are all there.

The heated seats are a totally separate system. The wiring and switches live under the center console. You will have to source all of it since it will not be in your car.

Or you can just disregard all that complex wiring junk and do what I did in my DIY.. run them to the rear defroster switch. Much easier, and does the same thing. In fact.. I would consider it even better than running it to its own switch.

I added Outback seat heaters to my 98 LGT. I cut all the harness connectors from the salvage yard donor car and spliced in my own wiring. This is the quick way of doing it since the wiring added was accessible and not inside a harness buried under the dash. The seat heaters are actually really easy to do. It took me longer to add the heater element to the seats than it did for me to add the related wiring.

So for heated seats, you're saying i should just cut any switches and such out of the equation and splice right to the defroster or just tap into the fuse box under the steering wheel..?

^ Not for heated seats.. for heated MIRRORS. For heated seats I would run direct to batt / 12v and then through a fuse, then to a switch.

Starting to have cold nights so it's time to get started on hooking up heaters for my XT's.
If i am successful, i will post up what is needed & how
