So my tranny is shifting kinda late N today started making this computer fan kinda noise. And slight grinding noise when I slow down. Checked the fluid and she was low. Filled it up. Still making the fan noise just not as loud anymore. Kinda sounds like a gurgle. Like a power steering pump that's a little low. Just more of an electric noise. Like one of those old computers that has a dirty dusty fan

Also. When I let off the gas completely and coast. The noise goes away.


Any ideas.

Like I recommended in the other thread, definitely do a transmission service. At the very least, drain all the old fluid, refill with fresh ATF and add a little Lubeguard or Lucas ATF additive before you close it up. I'm no AT expert, but I believe there's a special way to ready the fill level depending on the temperature of the tranny as well.

all the teachers at my school think its a heat shield rubbing on the driveshaft.. soooo, time to get the car up in the air i suppose.. im just having a hard time figuring out how the sound goes away.

also, they think cuz my cats are dented pretty bad, that theyre causeing a restriction, which is causing the car to bog..


tranny hasnt lost any fluid since i filled it, so maybe it was still down just a little after pulling my radiator.. -__-

its one problem after another haha, ill never be able to save enough money for my rims.. :( haha

The main issue with Lucas trans fix (apart from the fact that it's poorly engineered) is that it is SO thick that it doesn't actually work until the trans is warm enough - and by then a lot of damage is already done. Lubegard ATF Protectant is thin. Extremely thin and it blends with any ATF - actually there's another product they have on the books now called LubeGard Platinum that is ATF universal. Protectant was only useable on certain ATF grades.

Just drain your tranny... and then do a manual flush with some fresh ATF and LubeGard. Lubegard makes a product that will actually help flush out and prep the tranny for new fluid.

Personally, given my experience with people who've brought me vehicles where they've used Lucas products...I would drop the pan and clean as much out that way too.

im only making this look to last two months or so till i swap in my new tranny. think ill b good for a short while? and considering half my tranny line is made out of an air compressor hose, i dont think itll really matter much lol

Why'd you even use Lucas products? Trans wasn't leaking according to your previous posts. You should have just drained it and refilled it with fresh fluid.

oh damn, i forgot to mention, the NEW car that the tree fell on has a tranny leak. the line under the battery tray, where it turns to a rubber line to go into the cooler was rusted to hell and pissing fluid. the tranny in the old car is going to get rebuilt for some turbo power! lol

For the record, Roger, I was referring to the Lucas ATF conditioner, not the trans fix. I should've made that more clear. But good info, thanks.

Eh, it's still a Lucas product. I wouldn't trust them - just one poor product tells me they're willing to compromise their products.
