Car is a 96 Outback Legacy with Canadian DRL module stuff.

So I am trying to make my city lights act as the Daytime running lights instead of my headlights. I have stared at this schematic for an hour and cant figure it out.

So far, I am thinking I will have to hook the power side of the socket straight to power, then hook the ground up to a switched ground source like the drl's, but I have no Idea which wire. That resister in the drl delete thread is the ground, so I cant do much with that.

drl diagram- http://www.autolib.diakom.ru/CAR/Subaru ... /13960.pdf (http://www.autolib.diakom.ru/CAR/Subaru/1997/Legacy/SYSTEM%20WIRING%20DIAGRAMS/13960.pdf)
non drl diagram- http://www.autolib.diakom.ru/CAR/Subaru ... /13961.pdf (http://www.autolib.diakom.ru/CAR/Subaru/1997/Legacy/SYSTEM%20WIRING%20DIAGRAMS/13961.pdf)

I want it hooked up through the drl module so that they turn off with the e-brake on, or the selector is in park.

Thanks

Why not just disconnect the DTRL module and be done with it?

Hi/Low will function properly.

Its not that, I wanted the city lights hooked to the module so they behave like the drl(ei, shut off in park etc), but I cant find an answer anywhere on nasioc or google, so I'm just going to give up and hook them to the park lights.

I am a little confused.

What are you calling city lights and what are you calling drl?

Technically they are the same thing. Considering there is a dual filament bulb that does 3 types of lights.

City / DRL = Low voltage low beam circuit
Low beams = Proper voltage low beam circuit
How beams = Higher voltage hi beam circuit

All three from 1 bulb. So again what exactly do you want to do?

JDM projectors have the city bulb next to the projector and high beam

The JDM lights have a "City light" which is a smaller bulb in between the turn signal marker and projector. I hooked them up in my car, but the light output is dismal and hardly worth the effort.

These lights, usdm housings have a little reflector and a blanked out hole where I'm assuming euro or jdm versions would have a separate city light bulb. I have drilled it out and installed a socket with a 912 bulb that I want to work like the drl's, but separate from the headlight bulb.

sorry i wasnt too clear about it before. Heres some pics i took of what I did.

You will have to change the wiring of the DTRL module on the passenger side shock tower.

Basically if you look at the FSM wiring diagram you will see how the wiring is fed inline with the lighting harness.. Disconnect the DTRL module and re-wire it so it feeds the city lights.

BTW i don't think I have every seen someone retro-fit the USDM housing like that. Good stuff.

I talked about doing that awhile ago, but never did it!
good job.
