It appears to be? maybe that's where a lot of that dripping wet oil is coming from? I already have the new steel oil separator cover.

Did you already clean up the oil under the seal? Because I dont see any... at all.

If it was the inspection plate next to it, it would have been obvious.
But ya, did you clean it already?

Glad to see the oil separator plate was replaced too. Do it right, do it once!

Yep engine is easy to pull but I rather not do it twice.

Yup thats the updated "Plate of Doom" / "Oil Separation Plate" you can find them as low as $35 and as high as $86.

Make sure you get the revised bolts that are *MANDATORY* for the installation.

It really bothers me when standard mechanics don't install this. Even my buddy who has a EJ207 didn't both installing a new one when he went EJ257 hybrid. Stupid people not listening to reason.

I didn't even know an updated one existed, too bad I didn't know about this last year!

I am sure its listed in a Tech Service Bulletin but then again no dealer / parts guy is going to go out of their way to help you if you're just buying parts

Parts departments aren't allowed to sell the old plate. As soon as the TSB was issued several years ago the part was to have been returned to Subaru and all dealerships had to restock with the revised one so that when a timing belt etc job came in they could only use the new metal plate.

No I was referring to how helpful they are.....

If you order a RMS they will not inform you about the plate unless you ask for it.. Lame!

Thats all..

When I went in last year to get the plate I just asked for it and they got it along with the screws.. I never asked for the seal at the place so I dunno about if they tell you about that or not..
