hey guys, as youve seen ive for a new leggy and im swapping parts from my 04 35th aniversary to my 01 L

first difference i dont like is when i lock my doors and close it, the car doesnt beep and flash the parking lights anymore, is there a specific module i can pull out to make that happen again, and where does the actually beep come from?

second, im planning on swapping all my doors, which means the key wont match the ignition.. is it easy enough to just switch ignitions in the colum, plug and play? so all my keys will match

third, if i switch my clusters, is the milage stored in the cluster, or the computer?

forth, is the 01 not have DTRLs? or a cruise control light on the cluster?

fifth, is my car wired to have powered seats if i swap mine in

1. Keylock timer
2. Fairly simple, you're going to drop the trim panels off your original and swap over the ignition switch
3. Mileage is stored in your cluster. So you're going to have issues if you ever sell or have an insurance claim if the numbers are way off.
4. DRL was I thought a Canadian only thing. Cruise light bulb might be blown in the cluster.
5. Unknown - the harness is likely there but the 01 L came off the production line a lot earlier than your 04 - which is essentially a grab bag of parts at the end of the generation's production. Similar to the 99's here in the US.

what is a key lock timer lol? and do you know where its located?

so its plug and play for the ignition, doesnt have to match or be programed?

and that really stinks about the clusters.. the 01 says 163XXX and my 04 says 74XXX :smt011 :smt012

Keylock timer is under the dash - little black box that plugs into the keyless entry module. It's labeled.

Ignition key doesn't have an immobilizer chip, so nothing required there except for the key to fit.

Unless you swap the VIN# - which is a federal offence I believe - then the chassis you are driving has 163k and the car you WERE driving was involved in an accident. So really, if you swap the cluster over, you're probably going to shaft yourself if you ever have another claim. In some states if the dash cluster fails, you can swap another one in and have the mileage registered with the DMV but the install has to be inspected I think.
