so all my fluids are where they're supposed to be, no loose belts, no squeels
but from when the wheel is straight, the first rotation in either direction is really stiff and doesnt snap back if you let go of the wheel, once you get like 80% past the first rotation it frees up again.
bad rack?

from lock-to-lock is vibration or whining?

no, just difficult, pump only squeels if you go all the way in either direction and hold it there

I'm not the OP, but what is proper DIY way to flush the P/S?

There seems to be two methods.
1. The not so right method) Turkey baster the old fluid out of the reservoir, refill, turn car on move rack left-to-right. Then repeat. - Nasioc
2. ) Disconnect the low pressure line coming from the reservoir into a drain pan and turn on the car. Replace the rubber line, refill, put the front wheels in the air and turn the steering wheel through its full rotation and top off the fluid. You can do the last part a couple of times to make sure no air bubbles are trapped. - rougeben83
Simple enough...

Do it a couple more times for good measure, that only gets like a third of the fluid.
