Quick question I jacked up the tranny to help remove the engine but now trying to put it back I can't get the pins to line up and the splines on the transmission to line up.. So what I'm asking is should I drop the tranny back down?

I've got like a 1 inch gap and I still can't get the splines to catch but for some reason I took my jack off the transmission and the transmission does not want to lower I'm not sure what it's caught on since I think that's why (I know it is) why I can't push the rest of the motor on because of the transmission angle is still too high.

this is my first time pulling a subaru motor and a manual one at that so I'm not sure how close stuff should be before the splines line up on the trans.

First thing I'd look at is the flywheel cover at the bottom, they bend very easy and can get caught between the engine and trans. Also if you didn't have the clutch apart shouldn't worry, but if you did maybe that isn't aligned correctly and holding you back.

lol it's a brand new clutch so that was not it.. and yeah at first the flywheel cover got caught so I just bent it downwards.. anyways what happened was the motor was twisted just a tiny bit so it was not lowing in the motor mount holes but the pins lined up and all.

So I got a helper and I finally got it.
