Today i got my car back from the garage along with some bad news..
Both my rear shock absorbers seem to be done for..
I kinda already suspected atleast one of them to be broken cuz of the handeling i experienced the last few weeks.

Anyway, i've been wanting to lower the car for a while now and am therefore thinking of buying 4 new shock absorbers and springs..
Since my front suspension is a few cm's higher then the rear, i'd like to have the back lowered about 3cm and the front about 4 to 5 cm..
I however have no clue what and where to get, how much it is going to cost me, or how hard it is to replace them myself...

plz help!

What chassis is your car? BE/BH or BG/BD?

I had KYB Gr2s with H&R Sport springs on my LGT sedan and loved them. You will need spacers for the rear though. Currently I have KYB AGX with Skunk2 front springs and 05 STI rear springs and hats. The ride height is near perfect, but the front seems to bounce around a bit.

I was able to find those KYB GR-2s (i live in Holland, so finding something like this isnt easy) for 143.92 euros:

These are the rear ones, front ones cost 126.02 euros.

Also, is it possible to first install the shock absorbers above @ the rear only and use the stock springs untill i got more time/money?
Then when i got more time/money can i install the front KYBs + add 4 sports springs to lower the car?

Finally, what are spacers and why do i need them @ the rear?

If you can, get Bilstein struts. You may have better access to them being in Europe.

With the springs, it is better/cheaper in the long run to do them at the same time as the struts - but you CAN install them later. Plan on twice the cost of installation though, and two alignments.

Spring spacers (aka "saggy butt spacers") are suggested for the rear because the H&R springs tend to sit fairly low at the back, giving the car a somewhat odd look. Google them and you'll see.

I am able to get Bilstein struts, however they are still very expensive, the KYBs are more affordable..
Are there any other good brands i should look for?

Also, a friend of mine is going to install them so there will be no costs on that.. So i think i am just going to put the stock springs on them, since i dont have the money atm to do all 4 struts & springs at once ...and putting on sports springs @ rear only is going to look wierd for sure..
Is this a smart thing to do or should i just go to the scrapyard and look for some stock struts there?

Better to be safe - all four new KYB struts. Do your springs later.
