Check the battery for voltage (Can be done at home, or at napa/autozone, etc.)
-If the battery checks out, move to the alternator, (again, you can have it checked at napa/autozone)
-If the alternator checks out, move to the starter.

yeah i was gonna do that till the car wont start at all and therefore not enabling me to take it to the parts store...or didi yiu mean maybe just take the battery itself to the store to be checked out???

You are correct sir, that is what I meant. Borrow a friend's car or bum a ride. I would go ahead and pull the alternator too, you can make just one trip that way.

i went to advanced auto and they tested it to be bad but it was closing so i sai id come back tomorrow. this nice turboed sentra jumped me so i could get home.......i go in today and get it tested and it reads full. so i have them do a full system check and the alternator is just fine giving the appropriate voltage under load and in idle......so i think i maybe shorted the battery when going through the puddle and it just straight drained the battery on he spot. but thankyou for your help.....now i have to solv a EVAP system code....P0440

If you are smashing around town, I have also seen the batteries short if you hit a speed bump REALLY hard without having the battery tiedown in place... basically your battery hits the underside of your hood.
