Im going to be putting 06 STi suspension in. I know they dont fit but they will. Found a guide on the forester site to make 05+ STi struts fit. Now i need tires for my stock 15x6??outback wheels.
They will be winter wheels but i also want to use them for the beach if i can. I want tires that wont rub obviously and im clueless which will work

Compare the overall diameter of the strut housing to your stock suspension. That will show you how much clearance youd have more or less.

no link but basically just enlarging the strut mounting hole and putting a spacer on it.
Done it on my bro's gc8.
wouldn't recommend it though.

Thanks ill compare the diameter. I found a thread in the suspension forum where someone put 04 sti struts on their outback and he has stock sized wheels that dont rub. I didnt think to look their until after i posted lol.
But yea thats pretty much it just enlarge the hole to fit our hub and use washers. Ill post the link later. Its on the fozzy site. He used 08 sti struts on an 09 fozzy. Same idea for our cars.
R3v why wouldnt you recommend it??

04 STi struts work because you don't need to drill out the mounting hole. 05+ STi have different mount locations because they switched to 5x114.3 hubs.
Personally, I would never drill out or elongate a mounting bolt hole as critical as a suspension bolt. Unless you can reweld material onto the strut to fill the void, you run the risk of damage over the long term. It's just not worth it in my opinion.

Yea i know they changed it and 04 is best. I have the 06 already and got a great deal on them. I was going to weld the hole but maybe i just source front 04 struts that are blown and swap them

When i did my brother's gc8 with coil's, there was barely any metal left when I enlarged the hole on the upper mount. I mean it works but seems like another thing that can go wrong.
