So theres a 11 out of 10 chance(yea, you read that correctly) that the outback is totalled after being rear ended. I might get another second gen....but i really want boost/more power, so i was looking at a couple 1st gen SS's. However the SVX is something ive always kinda had in the back of my mind, what are common problems with them? I know the trans tends to go out, but the one im looking at already has a WRX 5 speed swap....is there anything else i need to watch out for?? I really dont feel like joining another forum just to ask this question lol...OH and the GT-B bumper is NOT for sale

wheel bearings are a big problem.
virtually no upgrades to speak of,
but there is a "chip" for the obd-1 ones.
heavy, but pretty fun. My buddy got one with a 6mt swap that's a lot of fun.
hard to find parts for since almost everything is svx specific.

Get comprehensive insurance to cover windshield replacement, stock is close to a grand.
Are you looking at the silver near Morgantown?
Wheel bearings can be an issue if they were ever done wrong, if so, replace the hubs.
About as easy to work on as a Leg, some parts are interchangeable, most things will look familiar, but will be a little different.

Subaru-svx.net. I think that you can really make the Svx fast with a sulercharger/turbo build if you are looking for speed. The svx guys on that site are great for info. The only draw back to these cars is that the are 500 lbs heavier than my LGT. Still awd and very sporty. How many miles? Price?

The price seems a little high, if your willing to wait you should be able to find one for less.

I thought I'd heard quite a few comments about widespread oil leaks in those. Make sure to keep everything in tip top shape.
Awesome car though, I've always wanted one.

The SVX is a tough car to mod because its so rare. But its an awesome highway cruiser and a good condition one will turn heads no doubt. Plus its got the legs to roll and quickly. The wrx 5 speed mod is very expensive, but there is good support for it.
Wheels are 5x114.3 so forget finding any "cheap" 90-05 Subaru takeoffs to throw on.
Can you tell Ive always wanted one too?!?

why not look at 00-04 h6 outbacks? power wise almost the same but more modern, parts are easy to find, almost maintenance free. I always wanted SVX or XT6 but not as a DD.

I hate the way they look, no offense to anyone that has one. id rather skip to an 05 turbo but they are too expensive(i really dont feel like getting a loan)
