A/C delete = power gain?

Does removing the A/C compressor, lines, and condenser help gain any power? I'm thinking it would because of less drag on the engine.

It's about 30lbs in weight. The only power you gain is because of that. If the AC isn't turned on, there's no drag on your engine. If you want to try it, just take the belt off the AC so it's not connected to your crank pulley.

Yeah, the A/C unit has a clutch that kicks it in when you hit the A/C button or turn on defrost. If it's not engaged, there's no drag on the crankshaft. That's why you can feel such a difference in power when you turn on the A/C.

Like Huffer said, weight saving is all there really is. I think if you removed everything it might be a bit more than 30lbs though...

I'll leave the system in. I could take out the back seats and subwoofer to save weight! thanks guys

Dump your sub and spare tire, jack if you want to save weight. Or run less than half a tank all the time.
