My door chime only works some of the time. Startles me a bit when it does come on, since I hear it so rarely. Anyone know how to fix this or where the door chime is? This car has been through a lot from the previous owner, I can tell he really took bad care of it.

I would think under the dash on the driver's side. I've never seen it personally though. If it's intermittent, I'd guess it's a loose wire somewhere.
edit: Looked through my electrical FSMs, couldn't find anything, sorry.

Looked through the FSM as well, not sure where to look. One day while it was on, I pulled the gauges out to look around for it and still could not find it. It sounds like it dies off when it does stop though. So maybe a loose wire. The hunt begins. Haha

So this would stop the noise? I would like to just make it better. Grab one from a junk yard?

Check to make sure the door pressure plunger switch is properly screwed into the door frame. This is what sends the signal to the door chimer.

Not a bad idea, I noticed that the door had been taken off before. Bolts look worn a bit, all others are painted/untouched. If that even has anything to do with it. Thinking the previous owner took it off because of the door sagging, which is another thing I would love to fix. I'll check the plunger today and get back to the post.

The door switch is actually on the frame of the car. (right by the little sticker with the air pressure recommendations) The screw that holds it on is the ground - so if you have any rust or corrosion there, I'll be that might be the problem.
That being said, that won't have anything to do with the seatbelt alarm when you start the car, unplugged or not.

Yeah, that's all part of it. It doesn't like to come on for anything, seatbelt, door or keys in ignition.

It's probably not the door switch then.

Somebody who has disabled their perfectly good chime should just unscrew it from their dash and send it to the OP... I would for sure but mine started to fade in and out of actually making the chime sound.

Haha I'll look into a junk yard and see if any of them work. Only two legacies that are the same year and they both have over 300k on them. Not sure they will actually work. But if anyone has an extra or doesn't want one, I wouldn't mind getting it!
