Slow blinking turn signal.

Ok so here's a good one for everyone. Just recently I noticed that my right turn signal blinks slower when I hit the brakes, it's only the right and nothing else seems to be affected.

Ideas?

Pull the bulbs out of the brake lights and check for corrosion. I know, weird.

Oh, and I forgot to mention I have a tail light out, maybe that's causing it some how?

I'd go around the car and pull the bulbs, but make sure to look inside the sockets for any kind of corrosion. JDMLegacy had a problem where every time she hit the brake pedal her brake light fuse blew - there was rust inside the socket that was causing the short circuit. I swapped out her taillight socket and no more blown fuses.

Corrosion has this way of causing electrickery...

Almost certain that you have a turn signal socket that isnt the same as the one on the other side. I am not sure if it is model year specific or if it is a pre/post 97 thing... But I have personally had that happen as well as seen a few other occasions.

Also pretty sure that a USDM socket will blink at a different speed as a JDM socket.

Both front and rear turn signal sockets are untouched OEM equipment. When I had the JDM lights in they fit fine so I never bothered to wire in the JDM sockets.

Well before I had bought the JDM projectors... I bought a used set of 2 piece headlights off of ebay from someone in Washington state.

I replaced the one headlight that was broken with ONE of the ones from Washington State. The one that I replaced blinked slightly slower than the other side. As soon as I took out that signal socket and replaced it with the one that I took out... they blinked the same speed. I think this happened to someone else on here about a year ago... same results.


Is the bulb itself blinking that fast? If you are using the USDM dual filament bulbs and one of them goes out... the corner marker will still be orange but it wont blink... the indicator on the dash will blink quicker to let you know that a bulb is out.

I'm 100% sure the sockets are the OEM ones that came with the vehicle. There is no indication that they've been cut/replaced. When I had my JDM headlights, the corner lights fit the JDM's so there was no reason to cut and splice the JDM sockets in.

I need to go out tonight and see if the blinkers are in fact blinking at a different speed, or if they're blinking at all. As far as I know both lights are in working order though.

Ahhhh I see what you're saying now. For some reason I was thinking the socket was part of the harness. I'm gunna run out there in a little and check it out.
