hey guys i just bought me a rear set of Monroe struts which i will use with my STI springs on my JDM BG legacy. consequently, i got a good deal on two front HKS coilovers with camber plates and all that are meant to fit a GC8 STi. my question is, can i mix and match them into a neutral set up for the street?? coilovers in the front and standard Macpherson strut and springs for the rear i have done a bit of a search nobody seems to have done it.....or advertised rather even in the FAQs. will this count for an interesting ride?? what are the risks?? thanks.

As far as I know there are no real risks involved, however it's going to ride like crap.

im riding like that now lol. for street DD its absolutely fine but for any kind of aggressive driving you have to be carefully as rear really wants to let loose. other than that its all good

Mismatched shocks and springs are a no-no. You'd get better results from going all-Monroe, honestly.
The predictability from your suspension will be gone, entirely. You might as well be riding a motorcycle with a popup trailer attached to it.

wow. thats de-motivative if theres a word. realy wanted the coilovers because for the price. what a steal!!! a little escape option here...what about a 22mm rear sway bar to equalize things abit?

Will just cause the rear to come out sooner i believe. Wont balance things out.

The swaybar will help, but you're only masking the problem.
Swabars are designed to transfer torsional loads laterally. Your strut & spring suspension is designed to keep your wheel/tire in contact with the road, mostly along a vertical axis. So they do quite different things.
It's just not a good idea to mismatch your struts and springs. Under daily conditions it'll be "ok" but at the extreme level (such as an emergency situation) the differences will be hugely magnified. And it's possible your insurance will not pay out because they may deem your car to be unsafely modified.
