Fogs as DRL's

Has anyone actually figured this out for us BE owners? I want the fogs (instead of low beams) to come on with the ignition as DRL's (off if the handbrake is pulled up) and I would still like to be able to turn them on with my low beams and hi beams.

If anyone can help that would be great.

1) No light even with the DRL module installed will be on with the hand brake up.
2) DRL are only used when the hand brake is down and the light switch is set to off.
3) Low + Fogs work together. Highs + Fogs do not. You can by pass the relay that turns off the fogs when the highs are. There are a few DIY floating around.

just wire them up to a separate relay and have it turn on when it sees ignition/accesorries.

Ok here we go...
Here are the two diagrams the top is the headlight wiring diagram and the bottom is the fogs. (note that the headlight diagram is for a 4 light system, GT or GTL only I think...)

Ok the easiest way would be to cut the Yellow and blue wire that is coming out of the DRL relay (pin 37) and splice that wire into the White and black wire coming out of the Fog light relay (Pin 25) Do not cut this wire simply T into it. It will also be necessary to cut the Black wire coming out of the DRL relay (pin 38) and connect it to any power source, preferably fused.
And that should do it. Your fogs should work as normal and still be your DRL's without the headlights.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you try this and cause any damage to your vehicle. i have not personally tried this but it looks right simply by looking at the wiring diagram :smt023

Thanks for all the help. Chuck I think you misunderstood me. My post says I want the fogs to operate like normal DRL's...on with the ignition but off if the handbrake is pulled up. Thanks though for the 3rd tip!

To 02_legacy: I def appreciate the detailed answer. I just found my diagrams and what you say should work. I don't know why I didn't just look online for a set. I will verify the wiring and then give this a shot. I hope it works!
