The engine feels tired

Hello all.
I have recently noticed that when I drive my car at day times the car feels kinda laggy and not responsive, as if the engine is tired or 50% useful.
On the other side, when i drive at the evening or night it feels much more responsive, the throttle responses much faster to my foot etc.
Everything is stock under the hood.

Well, you have a 1.8L engine, so not much power to begin with. And I'm guessing it's pretty hot during the day in Israel - intake temperatures will have an effect on performance. The ideal temp is around 57* F.

No Check Engine Lights or any other issues that you know of?

You're right! It's pretty damn hot average 95F-102F during the day.
Sometimes the Engine light does turn on with code 22, I've checked it and it's the Knock sensor.
How can i get the intake air to be 57 f ?? We only have this temperature on rare winters :)

I'm fairly sure a code for the knock sensor will put the engine into limp mode so that could explain the power loss...

Air filter - regular
Spark plugs - NGK BKR6EIX-11 - I think they're pretty good ;)

As i mentioned in my first post It's something that has to do with the weather.
But what part has a strong correlation with weather ??

Bingo. That's your problem right there.

I'm not saying that you can't have good performance at anything above or below 57*, but I have noticed my car running a bit choked when it goes above 90* and it's humid out. Not dramatically though.

It's funny to hear that 57 is a rare low - That's a nice spring day around here :)

I'm not convinced about the weather being that much of a damper on power. I have run my car in 100F heat and it runs the same, just a little more on the temp gauge.

I knock sensor can kill your power a bit. Have you got that in and cleared the codes? I'm curious to know if thats it....

I have cleared the codes but they keep on showing up again. I really ought to buying a new sensor as soon as posible.
I'll let you now about the results.

If they keep showing up, they're still keeping your car in limp.

When you get a new sensor, completely reset your ECU, don't just clear the codes.

Resetting your ECU: unplug battery for 15 minutes, pump brakes several times just to be sure right after you've disconnected. Then see if the codes come back and if your car is running well again.

It's probably more of a turbo thing, but I'm sure moisture density in the air does make a slight difference. It gets VERY humid here on the nice hot summer days.

I do have a dealership here but it's way too expensive comparing to Ebay, i't over $140 here!
