I been trying to find if a 1996 legacy wagon wad ever came with rear drums? If it does have rear drums, isn't it a fwd?

I think it is a year think... my L sedan has the disks in the rear but it is a 99 and a 30th anniversary.

the Brighton would have drums for sure, it could also be AWD, drums do not = FWD.

Lack of a rear diff = FWD
Brakes have nothing to do with it.

Yes, the second gen;
LX (FF & AWD rev A & B)
TX Type S (FF & AWD rev A)
Brighton Gold (FF & AWD rev A)
And would you believe the early third gen Brightons and all third gen TX's also got rear drums... so a latter model second gen Brighton got rear discs while an early model third gen Brighton got drums.
That info is for JDM spec cars.
I think he was saying that cars with AWD were generally higher spec therefore got rear discs, so if it had rear drums you could assume it was FWD.
And yeah, I was expecting pics. :smt012

Not too similar to the trim lines here in the US, but the OP didn't really specify where he was from either.
I would imaging that Subaru probably did put rear drums on a lot of their FWD cars since they were 300lbs or so lighter than the AWD equivalents. That being said, there are AWD subarus with drums in the rears. Just not sure on the year and trim designations.

Oh I'm so sorry my fellow owners. Haha my iPhone have this lovely thing called auto correct. "boob" well haha fat fingers. I'm from NY and just got a 1996 wagon auto. RHD postal car. I was just surprise with the rear drums because I Would expect awd to have disk brakes. I didn't get to look under the car because it was dark when I bought it. Will have pictures when I go to my aunts house in NJ and pick it up.
