Helped my friend swapped out his old leaking 96 2.2 motor to a 01 2.5rs swap and I want to share info for potential swapper
Basically used from top to bottom 2.5rs motor (header, oil pan up to the intake manifold)
Used the 96 engine harness
Depin the injector harness from the 2.5 to the 96 harness
Had to use the plug wires from the 2.5 but doesn't mate with the 96 coil
Pull the boot out to the coil and pull out like a lock ring and expand the end so it will plug into the coil
Had to bend the power steering bracket that bolts to the manifold and left it unbolted
Need to get a new hose that goes from the head to the intake since its longer (15/32)
The stock rs clutch mated with his trans
Plugged the IACV using a tin throttle body gasket
Swapped his old 3wire tps to the rs (4wire) throttle body
Had to use the 2.2 alternator (2 prong vs 3 on the 01 rs)
Only problem? Check engine light for IACV, wonder if there is a way to fool the IACV for the subaru like a resistor and just open up the throttle plate a tid bit. It idles around 1-1.5k rpm
