my blower motor started making the sound like a baseball card in the wheel spokes of a bike yesterday. i do park in the driveway which has a maple tree next to it. it is not loud and it does not do it all the time and it is not as loud today as it was yesterday. could it be that a maple seed somehow got into the blower motor? will something like that need me to take it to the shop? i do not have the money to replace the blower motor if that is what it is. any help would be appreciated.
the car is a 1998 Legacy Outback.

Those are definitely big culprits, those maple seeds, could be a leaf also. It wouldn't be worth replacing the blower motor with a new unit even if it was on its way out - the fail rate is so low, you could just get one from a junkyard and it'd be fairly inexpensive.
I'm still guess it's just something in there. I've had this happen many times before, and it would go away either if I put the fan on full blast or just let it work its way out eventually.

There is a thread somewhere about getting suff out of there. Mine had it too right now. I just ignore it.

Get in behind the glovebox and start dismantling... vacuum out or blow compressed air into the vents to see if that clears the blockage.

It's super easy to pull the fan motor also... No need to take it to a shop. 3 bolts and maybe a few other thing and it's out and you can clean up behind it...
