So I want an jdm BD RS twin turbo so I've been watching for one to go on sale. Well my buddy who does importing says I should get one from canada because they have the RS there. But they are LHD. not RHD. Yet they still have the twin turbo set up that the jdm cars use. So this means one of 2 things.
1, the Canada cars use a special set up to fit the LHD.

2, THEY DO FIT.

so I did some research, which I'm gonna test to see with my own eyes, but there is a guy who does a fair amout of swaps and he told me the twin turbo set up fits in the legacys but not the impreza. Which is why the legacy uses the tt and the impreza doesn't. Based opon the small amount of research I did, no one has disproved this theory. I'm sure it will require modification to my cross member.

AGAIN THIS IS A THEORY. I WILL BE TESTING IT TO CONFIRM OR DISPROVE

Canada didn't get any RS twin turbos from the factory. The only ones we get are due to the fact that we have a 15 year importation rule, as opposed to the US 25 yr. rule.

Yup.. all the RS that get imported to Canada are RHD...

infact the only turbo car(s) Canada got was the BC SS and the 02+ wrx / 04+ sti. Other then that its been EJ18/EJ22/EJ25 N/A

in order to build a twin turbo kit for a LHD car you need a custom manifold...

Oh the woes of having a steering column on the left hand side..

I always thought you could just make a custom up-pipe, and maybe downpipe for the driver's side turbo, but I wasn't sure on that.

That's weird.. I found quite a few 1996+ LHD legacys with twin turbs.. anyways.. I want to test the fitment anyways cuz like I said I talked to a guy who said with some modification to the crossmember it drops right in. Anyways when I get the time ill probably test it out.

One of our friends tried it, He cut up a lot of stuff and tried a lot of things before he said it was too big of a headache to deal with.

I call shenanigans.

The only difference between us cars and canadian cars is canada all got rear window defrost standard. And something about heated seats in sti`s or outbacks or something, but thats it.

However, there are lots of 96-(15+ years old) jdm legacies that have been shipped over from Japan, and they are rhd, I had one, it was fun, a friend has 2 in his family, and I`ve seen 2 others around town. Theres always atleast one for sale in alberta or bc everytime I look.

It's quite popular with the TT crowd to convert to SiNGLE turbo to reduce complexity and thus increase reliability.
