I had to clean it up a bit, as it's old home was out in rural country. It has a dent under the passenger rear taillight, and about 2 dings and a gazzillion light scratches from bushes. Nothing too major. It really is in great condition. Just a maintenance update for now, and some minor odds and ends.

Not bad, let the fun begin...

Thanks, and................ It has begun!

^--- That's the WTB for the USDM passenger taillight I need at the moment. You know me... the fun began when I first got home. Took it to the car wash! :smt023 Thats how we roll!

Sweet!

Thanks!

I'll try to keep updating this thread with what I do as I go. Maybe some DIY along the way.

nothing major has happened yet, as I haven't even registered it yet. With my life, my new work assignment and having to also relocate my E36.... things have been a little crazy.

However, I did manage to get it to a friends lift.

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2011/10/DSCN2284-1.jpg

Got it up in the air and checked the brakes/front end etc... Found a couple of things to add to my shopping list. Nothing major, and I was happy that the chassis looks like it has less miles than what it does :smt023

Thanks! Still on the fence about modding this. It's almost too clean to mod!... :smt021 Can't believe I said that.

However, I did. Had to swap the radio.....
The deck I installed, was the 1st time this car has had anything added/swapped. Had to do it, as the factory 1 was missing the bass/treble buttons. :-( I still have my old factory set up from Eet... Still undecided if I want to go back to factory tho, we'll see.

I also went at it again with the interior. Ripped out the front seats and found about $4 in change  and got rid of some of the light stains and dirt that were in the tight spots. Hopefully more updates when the car is registered and I can take it with me to work.

I want you to put some hella flush wheels on this thing!

Reason
10-26-2011, 09:06 AM
You already know this and we talked about it in the past. You can mod it and not loose that own look. A few add ons to make it "modern" (like the radio you did). Get some factory add ons you may like, bigger own wheels with good tires, outback sway bar etc, you know, the usual... Just like any of us we have a plan but the car tends to take shape over time.

I have a power antenna that actually still works from my 99 if it will work on your car. Let me know.

I already started heading in that direction by putting 10mm spacers in the rear   and..

I don't know if it'll work, but I can take a look at (or take a pic of) the plug. The radio works fine, and I hand washed it. However, I would like it to go up and down tho. Pm me a $ shipped to 02382, and I'll check the plug tomorrow and we'll go from there.

Exactly :smt023 Although, maybe approach this one with a little something different. A drop and 17's have been crossing my mind, and another set of JDM HL's. But if I were to really entertain the idea to start modding this, some rare parts would have to persuade me . It's clean. Almost as if I shouldn't have anything other than OEM. I dunno... guess we'll see.

What's the track width like with the spacers?

Not sure what you mean :smt017

The overall width from outside wheel to outside wheel?

or the way the car tracks down the street?

I'm 1/2 asleep right now

I'm not keeping them on. Just wanted to do some R&D with them on. So far, nothing bad and now I can see myself looking into staggered set ups.

so what all was involved in the swap?
I like where this is going.

Wow, I didn't think you guys would be interested. It's from my E36 (92-98) BMW. It was a factory option. I'll try and get a part # for anyone who needs 1.

Thanks, and the wheel is still not finished. I swapped over the cruise control and the connector and everything works, but haven't ran a resistor yet.

Resistor, as in the air bag is still unhooked?

Okin DaVanh

Resistor, as in the air bag is still unhooked?

Unhooked? :smt017

If you meant disabled, then no. My scanner reads it, knows it's there but it reads it as a different voltage being for a dual stage. It would work the way I rewired it, but the srs light is still there. That's what I'm putting the resistor in-line for.

Trust me, I was against doing this on my 97 that's why I've had the wheel for so long. I read up on a few posts in a couple of forums on how to do it, but just thought I'd get another wheel. Well, I'm not a baller (No surprise here  ) so I didn't get another. Would I suggest or recommend you do the same? No. Another reason why you haven't seen a DIY by me or a full description of how/what I did.

Ok. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I love the look of the momo in the second Gen, but had an idea from other threads that its a huge pain for 95, 96 owners to swap.

Side note: yes, I ment disabled.

Swapped a scooped hood on today, and picked up another 96 GT front cover with lip from Soul Shinobi today.
Had my OZ Canyons stripped of the tires too, so maybe I can get going on ordering adapters and mocking them up... Busy day.

Yeah, :smt009 Mine too. I checked it to make sure it didn't have any prior bodywork, but it was painted over with a crappy single stage paint that is starting to crack. I have a gallon of stripper that I'm going to be using to strip a set of wheels and if I have any left over, this hood will get stripped.

Currently, I'm trying to find 1 of the JDM rear glass with wiper. Wondering how much it'll set me back too  (If I can afford 1) , as I need, not just want 1. Sometimes, I can't see crap out my rear when it's wet out. Wish me luck!

Rear glass and wiper price depends on the exporter. Some price them like they are gold, some will price for like $75ish. But when you order make sure it has the whole assembly plus bracket. A lot of times they dont include the mounting bracket. I have everything I'm just waiting for the glass.

I'm guessing the 1's priced in-between, are the 1's that might come with the assembly?

Believe it or not, I'd take my chances with the rock chips. At least that way, I have less to do.

And the bumper I picked up from Soul Shinobi.

Not sure if I'm even going to put it on yet. Any modding or adding parts has been at a halt until I get past the heating issue.
