Well the crappy reman ps pump on my latest outback project is leaking and the local salvage yard has a nice clean leak free forester pump with my name on it. Has anyone swapped the 2 and had any issues? Ive checked out several aftermarket parts websites and all the part numbers are just slightly different. Any real world experience is appreciated.

I put a 98 Forester one on my 96 Legacy. I grabbed the lines that snake around the block and unscrew right off the PS pump - then it was plug and play. Used the forester's PS pump bracket, no idea if they are interchangeable, but they bolt to the block the same.

We will find out. Today I'll be snagging one from the boneyard. I checked out another 98 foz with the ej25d and the lines look the same. Ill update this post when I get it installed.

Well the pump is different in just a few minor ways. If you are going to use the forester pump you need all of the forester brackets that mount the pump to the block. I wasn't able to install mine because it didnt come with all the brackets or the lid for the reservoir. All of the lines hook right into the forester pump. I'm still going to try and get the brackets that I need since the forester pumps never seem to leak.

This only applies to the 98 foz pump with the dohc ej25d. When I get the bracket issue solved I will report back.
