Well the crappy reman ps pump on my latest outback project is leaking and the local salvage yard has a nice clean leak free forester pump with my name on it. Has anyone swapped the 2 and had any issues? Ive checked out several aftermarket parts websites and all the part numbers are just slightly different. Any real world experience is appreciated.

I believe that I have been in your predicament before. And yes, the fittings on the lines are slightly different. Some have banjo fittings on the high-pressure end, and some screw directly in. AFAIK this is the only difference, but it's a big one; they are not interchangeable because of the fittings on the pump.

Actually the fittings for the 98 foz pump are the same. The pumps are just slightly different. If you used all of the foz bracketry it will bolt right up, lines and all.

Strange. I purchased lines from a 98 foz and it was as described above (and unusable to me because of it).
Glad to hear you got it figured out though.
