Looks nice, would definitely change the wheel color. Lime doesn't work on such a good looking rim.

Nice looking wagon!

Yes, Aussie headlights. Couldn't find any JDM ones at the same price. Whatever they're all the same. JDM tails in due time. :)

Orange as in the wheel? Filters throw the colour off. More brown in person.

RSs are already traded. I loved the obnoxious lime green though.

Shouldn't be running different wheel widths, It will tear up your diffs even running the same tires since they will stretch differently and be different diameters only unless your running RWD conversion. of course won't happen over night but eventually will come...

Nice wagon but 205's on a 9" rim...seriously?

The diameter of the tire does not change on different rim widths. The tire sidewalls are all that change. Even if the 1 inch difference in rim width some how changed the diameter of the steelbands in the tire. The difference would be negligable at best.

205 on a 9 indeed. I wanted 195 40s for my 17x9  but then found out they're only available in Yoko S Drives.

Looks great! I'd love to see more purple and green on the outside tho.

I think the earlier comment about the orange was about the tail lights. You need to get the clear tail light version.

Oh ya. Chucks told me that a few times. Totally forgot.

May now have a connection in Japan. So I might just get those tails.

Getting an outback bumper off Chuck and 17s for next year. :)

I traded a friend of mine. BBS RSs+cash for BBS ____. :)

I got them pretty cheap. Though since they're finished, I would have had them up for $1300-1400 obo.

Toronto has few JDM Import shops, gems pop up sometimes.

Love it. But dude, you need a skidplate or something. The pics are great though, the hi-res is awesome.

Never liked the idea of skid plates. The plate can always be bent up and hit your exhaust/pan etc anyways. So it's like you lose a 1/4inch of ride height with no real benefits. If the plate is thin, it can be bent. If the plate is think, you lose too much ground clearance. And really at this point a 1/4 inch makes a huge difference.

No lip. Just standard 98 bumper.

Funny thing with the RSs. Traded them to a buddy who then traded those plus 18' RXs and cash for BBS LMs. That owner then put them up for sale. And they were bought by the guy that own's my friends old car (MK3 Golf). So my old wheels on my friends old car.

I'm putting on BBS RSIIs. 17x8 and 17x9. Centres are getting powdercoated soon. Also buying flat caps. Going with Falken 512s (obviously) 205 40s. Haven't seen another Legacy on these wheels. I'm excited.

chromehorn

Yup. The second I had the 16s on I knew I needed 17's. Should be on in early March.

I have a colour picked out. It's not one of the above though. :)

Purple is done with. Can't do it more than once. Doors and interior are still purple though.

Update of sorts. Dropped wheels faces off at the powdercoaters. Didn't go with purple.

Did buy flat caps though. Let's hope I don't lose a cap and waffle again this year cause these cost a pretty penny.

Also getting a GT hood from Chuck. Hood scoop will be functional ;). Contemplating a vinyl wrap (for just the hood).

Can't. They hold the waffle onto the rim which covers the lugs. I'll just take them off before a 1200km roadtrip, unlike last time :smt021

With the weak winter, no hooning in the snow means I'm REALLY itching to get onto my summer wheels. I'm thinking early March.

Rears should protrude 13mm further out than the fronts. :)

205 40 Falken 512s all around. I hate how Discount tire sells these exclusively. $520(CAD) to my door. :smt013

Camber; I had 3 degrees up front and 4 in the rear. I might have to bump that up to 4 and 4 or 4 and 5. Fronts I'm almost certain will rub like a whore.

Not any time soon. They come back from the powdercoaters next week or so.

I'll assemble it, right after. I need to figure out what colour bolts to use (polished or gold).

Hoping, assembled and tires mounted by 2nd or 3rd week of February.

Not paint though. It's a 2 stage powdercoat. First coat of silver. As close to chrome as possible. Then second coat of candy red/brown (copper). For those that are curious the ones in the pic are going on this A4.

Only this. You can see the rolled fender and the slot cut in the fender liner. I had issues with the inner tires rubbing through the liner and hitting the tub. But that was on the stock sized tires.

chromehorn
02-09-2012, 10:33 AM
Chromehorn= Are you putting them back together? If so, what are you using to seat them?

They're only a 2 peice so no need for silicone. The RSs required a nice bead of clear silicone to hold the air in. I screwed one up and it began to leak.

Big pain to get it right. Who would have thought putting wheels together took so much effort and money.

As for mounting the tires, we used starter fluid to pop it in place.

@240 - What tab? Also congrats on the baby.

how much does it run you to get your wheels powdercoated?? i was thinking about having that done once i get a more decent set of wheels.

How do you like that intake?

i have a cosmo racing intake on my legacy wagon as well. needless to say it is an overpriced, closely named knock off of Comsosracing who does BMW performance. you would be better off going on ebay and buying a tube and coupler kit for like 30 bucks and buying a name brand filter(I suggest AEM dryflow)

chromehorn
02-10-2012, 12:46 AM
The powdercoat was $280 (CAD). But this was at a group buy price. This includes stripping the previous finish. The 2 stage finish will also cost more. But I'd say $100 a wheel at most.

I'm having this issue right now with my stockies, what exactly all did you do and what were the areas you cut because I did notice when
rolling my fenders that areas of the fender tub were exact when the fender liner thus why I cept my liner on.

^ +1. This info would be very helpful.

chromehorn
02-13-2012, 02:41 PM
Didn't really do much. Fenders are rolled completely flat. And a 2 foot slot was cut out of the fender. The part closest to the fender.

Also you guys are on huge (albiet stock) tires. They're going to rub much more than a 16 on stretched rubber.

Okay cool I think I know what area your talking about but what about the blue mounts that are holding the wiring right there,
there close enough to where they could touch the tire if the car would go over a big bump or something, at least they seem to be that close.

Oh another thing, Where the hell did you get that car bra I've been meaning to ask about that. :o

I'm almost certain I don't have enough suspension travel for the harness to be a problem. If they haven't rubbed through by now (massive potholes, curbed rim), I'm sure I'll be fine.

It's a bug deflector.

Hey chromehorn how did you do you're exhaust? I noticed you don't have the stock cats but it does look custom so what did you all do?

chromehorn
05-08-2012, 02:43 PM
Mark...
It's a Magnaflow High Flow cat now. Go custom from the header back. It's 2.5inch all the way back and tucks up higher than stock. You need a shop that understands your car is low and it needs to tuck A LOT. Would be a waste otherwise. Had to bend a bit of the subframe back because it rattled. Also put in a resonator because it droned too much on the highway. You WILL ruin the stock exhaust if you go lower. My stock cats were toast.

haha, thanks

MarkSubi
05-08-2012, 03:58 PM
Thanks you! and okay cool thanks yeah I plan on looking for someone who knows there stuff. I also know everywhere is different but
how much did it cost to do all that? as in having the shop install it all. Also if your telling me not to go lower with the stock then I wont lol
Really I am planning on just lowering the front but I am afraid for my cats. I'm able to still go up my drive way and into my garage but when leaving or going into my garage at that point to where the ground level isn't even mmy cat and some other exhaust area is lightly scraping on the ground so in this case I wont go lower till I do the exhaust. Thanks for the info.

Oh and how did you tuck the piping area that normally goes underneath the rear axle?

chromehorn
05-08-2012, 04:41 PM
$550 with cat i think. Can't remember. It was a while back. Friends with the guy at the shop though. They're also one of the few shops that can actually lift a low car too.

I was scraping everywhere below. Didn't really care because I planned on getting new exhaust anyways. I'd say lower it now. And get exhaust work. If the shop doesn't tuck the exhaust enough, you'll know on the spot. Nothing special in tucking, the clearance is just minimal. Some shops don't put the time into things like that.

MarkSubi
05-08-2012, 06:33 PM
Wait, do you mean you got a cat or they also charged to get rid of it?

chromehorn

Just wondering... how fast car you take a corner and not scrape? I took a high g corner last night at about 80mph and got tons of rubbing...

chromehorn
05-29-2012, 01:00 PM
Definetely can't track it in anyway. I drive like grandma everywhere I go though. So high speed cornering isn't an issue. It will rub on some tight off/on ramps.

always lookin clean! good seeing you yesterday.

You as well. We should shoot our cars together. I'd love to see the difference in height.

Also, you photoshopped an outback bumper with an impreza lip under it (on a green car I think). Has anyone actually done this, and does it fit well?

chuckthefuk
08-27-2012, 12:03 PM
Lots of members with v-limited replica lips floating around. Some on L/GT/Outback bumpers

I photochopped a STi GD bumper merged to a gen 2 upper section.

a quick search shows a old photoshop i did for a member

..

P.S. let me clean up the rust and do some plastidippin' i am down for a photoshoot :-D

My son and I were admiring your wagon yesterday, it's too bad we didn't arrive early enough to park in the "Legacy" row, I was hoping to get some shots of mine with the rest of the Leggy lovers...

Deathlens must be running a bitchin' camera because those pictures are so clean. But nonetheless, your car is sick looking as always and the lowered wagon look is growing on me a bit....

@Chuck: Hmmm I'll put the outback bumper on and we'll see from there. Too cheap for a lip, i think.
@JB: Thank you sir.
@Chris: Ya he works at Henry's (camera store, not sure if they're in the states). He's ussally out with $7000+ in equipment to shoot events.

Assuming it doesn't rain a lot this week. I can finish painting my outback bumper. I've also just ordered Hella 500 lights (with the white covers). Expected to arrive before the 6th.

Maybe I didnt read all the posts but...plans for the wagon from here on out? Or, is it "done"?

I've had a 2.2, cams and a turbo at a friends house for months now. Our schedules really don't mesh well. Barely had time to work one it. It'll go in eventually.

Outback bumper and Hella's mentioned above. Outback hood. If it can't find another set of wheels I like. I'll get the RSIIs refinished.

That's about it. I'd like to have better pics with the bumper on soon.

@Chuck...No brakes FTW. Junkyard saturday morning (switch for Hellas), then either finish painting bumper or installing if its done. Sunday....ladyfriend business. I'll text if/when i'm free on saturday.

Looks good. Were the hella 500s a tight fit in the stock fog location? My stockers got nailed by junk at 60mph, thinking about upgrading.

chromehorn
09-24-2012, 11:41 AM
@chuck. Not sure, one thing at a time man. lol

@Thom. Tight fit for sure. I had to cut the bottom stubs of the fog covers off. I think it would be an easier fit if you move then forward a bit. I did not have to cut the bumper though.

If you're interested in crossing the border, I have a scooped hood FS... you can swap it on and leave your stocker with my garbage guy.
