Is your car leaking gas?
Do you think its the gas tank? :smt017
In most cases its usually the fuel filler neck which causes the leak. :smt012
This DIY is some what simple.
Estimated time for repair 2 hours / Driveway / Basic tools. :smt025
Cost of replacement pipe:
1) OEM $120-250 depending on source/dealer
2) Aftermarket $ 50-120
3) Used junkyard $20

Donor filler neck I used. Notice the hoses + clamps .. Those are the evap and tank hoses.

Tools / Material:

- 10mm / 8mm socket / ratchet
- *optional* Impact Driver -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impact_driver

Preparation:
0) Make sure your tank is empty! DO NOT DO THIS with more then 1/8th of a tank of gas!
1) Jack up rear right (passenger side)
2) Remove wheel
3) Spray penetrating fluid on the 3x Phillips screws at the top of the filler neck
4) Spray penetrating fluid on the 2x 10mm bolts holding the plastic rock guard (There is another 10mm bolt but it is not accessible until the rock guard is removed.
5) Spray penetrating fluid on the evap tube hose clamp (top of filler neck)
6) Spray penetrating fluid on the fuel tank hose clamp (bottom of filler neck)
7) Unscrew / Remove gas cap
Safe.. Lubed.. Ready!
Disassemble:
1) Unbolt the 2x 10mm bolts holding the plastic rock guard on.
2) Spray penetrating fluid on the last 10mm bolt that was hidden under the plastic rock gaurd
3) Loosen the two hose clamps with the flat head or 8mm socket
4) Slide the hose clamps off
5) Unbolt the last 10mm bolt that you sprayed in step 2
6) Unscrew the 3x Phillips bolts holding the top of the tank. You can use a screw driver but to be safe use a the option Impact Driver!
6a) It is recommended to use the impact driver to avoid stripping / breaking the Phillips bolts.. Trust me :-(

The 3x Phillips bolts.. PLEASE!! Use the impact driver!
Removal:
0) The top flange of the filler neck has a liberal amount of black (silicon / urethane) sealer!
http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/9518/img20111105163335.jpg
1) Push the fuel tank hose out of the way as well as the evap vent hose so they do not obstruct the filler neck when removed.
2) Pull the filler neck down and towards the center of the car. OR Pull down and push forward.
3) The filler neck should slide out with "SOME" force because of the sealer.
Installation:
0) Apply a liberal amount of sealer on the top of the filler neck flange
1) Slide the new filler neck into its location.
2) Bolt everything back together and use some anti-seize on all threads. ( DO NOT INSTALL THE PLASTIC ROCK GUARD !!! )
3) Slide on the hose clamps (evap and gas tank hoses)
4) Install wheel
5) Lower car and remove Jack
6) Fill with gas!
Done.
