I need suggestions on a new interior.

Hello All!!!


So my two front seats are about a 8/10 but my rear bench is about a 6/10. There is a 6 inch rip in the bottom of the back seat and the back of the "headrests" is cracked to high hell and ugly.

So I have been on the hunt for a new interior. I really want to keep it solid black. I would also REALLY like to keep it black leather with the option of doing black cloth if needed.


So I know that WRX sedan rear seats fit almost perfect (a little foam on the back and side shows) but finding a set of WRX limted seats in decent condition is next to impossible.

Finding a used set of 2nd gen LGT seats seems to be just as hard to do.

So I am wondering if there is anything else that I can be looking at for a rear seat... Newer wrx seats?

I love the Wrx limited leather seats, but if i were to change i would get out of the leather. The black cloth wrx seats are really nice.

Yea I know... the ladies 04 WRX has the DEEP black interior and I love it.

I know I asked this before but do the rear sedan seats from a 3rd gen legacy fit in the second gen?

I just got my buddy a complete set of 99 BG Limited heated front/rear seats and leather door cards from an auto wrecker for $200. Seats are in awesome shape, so they are out there!

I was gonna see is BH seats will fit. I found a nice set of black leather once, but didnt have the funds for them at the time. Only thing is they are power...

Do the WRX sedan seats fold down?

For that matter, do BD seats fold down?

I would almost look into WRX wagon seats for the folding aspect.

Yes bd seats fold down flat in the rear.

WRX sedan seats don't fold... they have a center pass through. BD sedan seats do fold down.

Harry - for what you're looking for, it may be cheaper to reupholster the seats. The Impreza/WRX/STi seats will raise your driver and passenger seats at least an inch. The rears don't fit great but are passable.

Yea I really want to keep the leather so I think I will just be on the lookout for a SUS that is being parted or an LGT. I would also be ok with heated seats :)


Anybody know what the difference is between the two leather seat styles for the second Gen?

Like what years or trim levels came with my seats? Is it a 30th Anniversary thing? I dont think it is because I have occassionally ran into other 2nd gens that have my seats.

And here is the back of the back seat. It wasnt this bad when I bought the car 4 years ago. But I am nearly positive that the shotty used car lot that I bought it from tried to spray black spray paint over the few cracks that there was. You can see a little overspray on the carpeted rear deck close to the center behind the headrest. This spray paint has caused the whole area to become REALLY brittle and crack even more.

The seats I just got my friend are a little different then my LGT seats. The bolsters seem to be a little different.

All front seats are basically the same, just a little different design. I'm thinking a different source when they built them here. Outback ones might have "Outback embossed on them, or stitched in. I have seen some GT's like that also.

i have the same seat as yours! Same cracked rear too. Supposedly only the GT limited was only offered in automatic but i have 5 spd. I think the leather was only offered on the limited also

There where no 1998 GT Limited 5 speeds at all. However, you can make them a limited. All it was, was leather and wood grain. I think it might have also been painted rocker covers and front and rear lips, but I'm just guessing on that, but it seems to be the trend.

I just found that out about a month ago that it didn't come in 5spd. Came with leather seats (front is height adjustable), leather door cards, limited badge and wood grain. Previous owner must of switch them. Hmmmm..... I need to run the vin# to see

I thought I did before, but maybe not...

I have the 2 panel in mine, like the GT you posted a pic of. The seats I just got for my buddy are like mine, but they are from a 1999 OB Limited. Also, they may have had different suppliers from year to year and also since your car in not a GT or an OB it might be a dealer thing they did. They are American built seats so they could have had a different source. I'll keep an eye out at the yard today. :smt023

Dude that would be awesome!!!! I am going to be up in portland next weekend for about 8 days and I think we are actaully going to take a small side trip to Seattle so that would be too perfect if they had a nice leather back seat.

Well, no dice... I found on 98 BD but it was cloth... And a 95 BK with some, but it was nasty!

I do know of a great yard about 2 hr's south of Seattle that might have some. They had a 99 BG Limited with full leather when I was there last week to get my BH sunroof. They had a few cars out there. I swear they have well over 1000 cars at that yard! I'll keep looking, I need to go to the other years in Kent this week for some other crap. Nissan and Toyota parts. I'm run through the Leggys also...I'll let you know if I find anything...

Oh, what are you looking to pay? As in, what is too much? I'll do the best to get it as cheap as possible. $300-$400 is the going rate, but I might be able to get it cheaper... We will see... The $200 for the last set was a shock to me!

Well for just the back seat I would say I am looking for around $200 for one in great condition... but I am open as long as it is not a ripoff.

Alright cool... I got fronts, rears, and doors cards for $200, but that was a chance deal. $400 is MINT beautiful stuff and thats the most I will pay for a set of seats.

If your happy with just a nice rear, I'll see about finding one, should be $100-200 at most. I'm going to a yard that had a 99 Limited SUS tomorrow, so I'll see what I can do. :smt023

My old leather that was in Eet was from my old 96 GT wagon. It also had "GT" embossed in red on them. They had the same pattern as your current seats.

Hey man, they crushed that SUS... Sorry bud... I looked, but they were wagons or cloth. I did find a 97 GT wagon with different leather then mine as well as the door cards were different.

And too bad you're on the other coast. There's 2 BD's in salvage yards near me. 1 has factory gray leather, and the other has the gray Katskin replacement. Both look in near mint condition, with the exception that the Katskin 1 is missing the headrests.

I would let go my 99 LGT Limited seats for the right seats, but you are too far away. The fronts amd rears are in great shape. I will get a pic to help you identify.

Just FYI, I have a 98 GT Limited and it is a 5 speed.
