Tire Wear Difference

How much of a difference in tire wear is safe to run front to back without wearing the differentials? Reason I am asking is today I walked outside to find a completely flat left rear tire. Thanks.

I think its like a .25" when measuring the circumference.

If tires have 9/32 and 7/32 tread front and back is that in the "safe" zone? Tires are 205/55/16.

Probably. I've heard of tire shops shaving tires slightly to make them match up too. I don't know exactly how that works, but it would be worth asking about...


Not that anyone wants to buy a new tire and then immediately cut its life down.
