200hp ej22 can it be dun

so I have an ej22 with 326010 miles and its time for a new motor so I was thinking if I'm going to be replacing it might as well get some more hp out of it. So how close to 200 hp can, I get with out swiping the block. I ask cuse I don't have the space to do it myself (live in an apt). so I have to get a shop to do it and every one I ask to do the block and head combo gets all scared and says no. So what combo of parts can I use to get to my goal.

The long answer is:

200HP where? At the crank? At the wheels? 200 chp wouldn't be an impossible goal, but either way it definitely wouldn't be easy. Either you'd have to do a monster N/A build which would cost lots of money and probably make the car less driveable every day, or you'd need to turbo it which would require lots of fabrication, time, money, and probably ruin the engine eventually.

The only guy I've seen really go aggressively after making horsepower on the stock EJ22E is reddevil (I think he's a member here, but he's really only on LegacyCentral.org) and he's been supercharging his EJ22s. I think he's gone through a couple (or more) motors though.

Well it would be at the crank. I figured that much but thought id ask I mean I know the 160 to 180 is touchable

of course it can be done, but the amount you'll spend on engine work will be alot more than say buying an ej25 and bolting it in.

with a ej25d it is capable do make 200tq at the crank. with the cams, intake, exhaust, weight reduction(pullies, and clutch). i got 167awtq, 165awhp. you will have a 25% drop over the drivetrain. about 41tq or 41hp. 167+41=208awtq 165+41=206awhp so i have about 208tq and 206hp at the flywheel. so it is capable to do.

o and I will not be using the same block I would most definitely get one with less miles and I have thought about a ej25 swap but no shop wants to do that again they get scared

Rightfully so, you would need to swap ECU's as well and you might have any number of little niggles.
If you were serious about the work required, a block swap, and a td04 would do you right. Run 8-10psi of boost and you'd be right around 250hp.

I don't have recent dyno numbers on my EJ22 but im probably around 115-120whp. And there's not much more I could do. I could probably get her to break the 150whp mark but its more money I would want to spend on a 278k EJ22 n/a block. Its peppy but its nothing special. Get yourself a good low mile EJ25 block and build a high compression motor. That's what Grafton did, that's what I'm working on. The 200 mark may still be out of reach but over all it will be closer than the 22.

The EJ20 came with 165 to the wheels, can you imagine how much money it would take to build an NA car with more power then that? Just swap it and get it over with imo.

A 2.5 with 2.2 heads and a mild P&P with cams, LW Pulleys, Proper Intake and full exhaust I can see making 200chp.
