Painting a Roof Rack

Hey all, I just picked up a Thule 400XT roof rack. It has a few imperfections.

The metal feet where you put the fit kit on are are chipped and rusting a bit. Should I repaint them or touch up. Either option I must ask what paint would probably be best.

The fairing has had sticker put on over its life, some earlier on when it was new and some later. I'd like to make it look consistent so that it has a fresh start for my stickers. How should I go about that? I don't care if its rough or gloss, I just want consistency.

I am thinking caliper paint since its tough and isn't supposed to rust.

I heard someone mention truck bed liner on a few google searches.
I do have some extra black caliper paint, so I might give that a shot.

Be very careful with what you use...most of my stuff is a rubberized coating, and some solvents will make a mess out of your roof rack and never really dry.

This. And if you're thinking of painting the fairing, DON'T!. Have it vinyl wrapped. Stay away from plasti-dip on those feet, as that will only crack away IN TIME. Good Luck.
