I'm looking to replace the front and rear speakers in my 98 LGT wagon. What are some good sets that don't require modification for this car? Also, I won't be running an external amp, the speakers will only be powered by the Alpine head.

I was thinking about getting Boston's SX65, anyone have experience with these?

no experience with them, but I have used Infiniti Speakers in my STi and I loved them.
you can get Infinity Reference 6002i 6-1/2's for like $60 and they sound good without an amp

Will I still get rear deck rattle from these? If so I plan on putting some foam in there to get rid of it.

The deck rattle is probably from the factory material on the deck. its like a black tar or somthing. mine was doing the same thing, I got some Dynamat and I peeled off all the factory stuf and replaced it with that.. no more rattles here.

Ohh... ok

yeah I've been looking for new speakers for quite some time but when I see something I like I'll hear nothing but bad things so I havn't bought anything.

I want exactly what jakmobile wants, Im tired of the crappy stock speakers.

The stuff I used was a generic brand like listed above works just as good as dynomat. I used dynomat in my STi and this stuff in the legacy and they both work great

$110 sounds like a lot, I think Im just gonna be cheap and buy some foam to throw back there.. I havn't taken the deck apart Im not sure what it looks like yet but Im sure I can find a cheap way to get it done.

well you dont need a whole roll that was just an example.. you would only need a little piece for the rear deck..

Guys, I have a set of JL Audio 6 1/2 coaxial speakers I am about to pull out of my '91 Legacy if you're interested. I didn't use the speaker grills so those have been stored inside and are in mint shape. Great sounding speakers which have served me well.
