Anyone know if the seatbelt chime can be disabled, either by programming or other method, on an 06 Outback.
Since it chimes even when in Park, with the parking brake on, it drives me crazy. I always wear my seatbelt, but I spend a lot of time in my car, parked, and don't need to hear that thing.

I'm not interested in doing any mods that would effect anything other than the seatbelt chime.

Thanks for any help!

Find the chime and unplug the wires. The nice part is, the chime makes it pretty easy to find.

I work for a toyota dealer, alot of the new cars have customizable features that can be turned on/off with our scan tools. Unplugging it could make other circuits possibly not work like illuminated entry, not sure though. I am not sure what subaru would charge but i think we charge half an hour. Hope this helps.

Turn on the engine, and within the first 30 seconds clip/unclip the seatbelt 20 times. No joke - apparently you can also temporarily disable it by rapidly clip/unclipping the seatbelt 3 times in succession too.

I tried this a few times on an 06 legacy with no luck. I was probably doing something wrong, but I never had any luck.
