Weird Oil leak.

Hey I've been having a weird oil leak for awhile and I want to get it fixed. I have no clue where its coming from but it sorta almost looks like its coming from the middle of my car underneath it of corse but I'm not sure. I did take it to a place to have it looked at but it was to much oil gunk for him to find. My oil level is perfectly fine to.

I know for sure its not the oil pan, the filter, and some of the other areas that you would excpect it to come from. I plan on taking my car to a car wash later to try and clean it off and before I do ill try to get pics. I may end up finding out where its at but for now I want to put this out there to get yawls option.

Valve cover gaskets and the oil pump seal are two common culprits. When the engines get a little older, the front & rear main seals are likely to give up oil as well.

Best thing you can do is spray some degreaser and then hose off the underside of the engine to get a better idea of where its coming from. Otherwise they make an oil dye that you can put in your engine to help track down leaks. Pictures are certainly helpful.

Oh okay cool, good to know because I have no clue what so ever but the oil pump is what Ill be looking at, I have a hunch thats what it is and thanks for the cleaning tip, never thought about using degreaser spray.

I also know every places is different but if it is the gaskets in the oil pump then what would a garage or shop normally charge?

Do the leak dye. It will eliminate all the guess work very easily. It will also help you shorten your mechanics time and extend the life of your wallet..... BadAss :smt023
