so i have some screeching from the front left and i figured wheel bearing right? so i changed that today and it was a much needed thing but it didnt solve the screeching... i know my axle is going but i havent had the money to change that yet. any ideas as to what its coming from? i also have some weird break wear like a spot on the rotor is wearing faster than the rest and theres an extended part on the pad in the same spot like theres a hard spot in the pad or something... i really dont know what to do....

Looks like a frozen/stuck caliper. Try lubing the sliding pins.

alright. that sounds easy enough. hope that fixes it. what should i use to lube it?

I will find you something in hydraulics. I am a internet search master. Lol. What can you specifically do? High pressure hydraulics? Heavy equipment repair? Give me some details I hate to see a fellow engineer loose a job.
Kansei
12-23-2011, 04:12 PM
high pressure hydraulics maint/repair. i was in the navy for 2 years doing the same thing as well as largescale diesel electric generators high pressure air compressors and plumbing. i also have some experience in O2 generators.

For starters. Not exactly in your field, but should help you get by for now.
I'm supposed to be in Atlanta the 3rd week of January. Let me know if anything changes. I might be able to help, when I do get down there. My brother owns a business.

nice, are those lateral and trailing arms of the gc8 or wrx (02-07)?
Kansei
01-09-2012, 03:50 AM
the suspension parts are all wrx stuff. it all bolts on fine but sadly enough i cant get any closer than -2.1 camber in the rear. but the stiffness they provide is nice. i needed new stuff due to my bushings going bad and i figured why not upgrade? i think theres something wrong with the suspension still. clunking and squeaking constantly...

haha thanks. too bad its not too common a thought. seems its not too popular. but hey i still love her.
thinking about a rebuild or building a whole new motor... but my budget wont be all that extravagant. any good ideas as to what i should do to keep it in a good power range without making myself hurt in the wallet so bad?

Where can I find those lips you've got? I'm wondering if the rear one or any of them would fit a 1st gen? Are they rare?

Looks like the stock gt rear lip. BG/BK GTs have lips and side skirts stock.
Kansei
02-07-2012, 09:43 PM
yep. stock rear lip. as for fitting your bumper i'm not sure. theyre held on with bolts or clips on the bottom to the bumper itself.
and she is a little beat up. dents everywhere..doesnt run great... and a missing mirror from it rolling down the driveway when the ebrake took a shit and it hit the mailbox... unknown tuning program... all sorts of crap... i still love her though. i really need to get it all repainted and body work done. them i'm thinking vinyl wrap. i want to do it in the skyline midnight purple special color but i have no idea what it would look like... anyone Photoshop worthy?

I like that you've maintained the factory airbox. Don't understand why everyone throws a cone filter in their hot engine bay vs the airbox. I searched for many months and was finally able to find the proper JECS MAF that fit my rare twin turbo airbox. It silenced my turbo however so that was a sad day. It went from being quite audible to almost completely inaudible.
Kansei
02-09-2012, 11:32 PM
mine is surprisingly loud since i have no snorkus. but i keep the airbox for the torque factor as well as heat. and my engine bay gets hot as fuck... and i have a lot of heat soak problems with my intercooler for some reason. but my intake temps are still fine. makes no sense to me...

eh. its not as fast as it should be... i have a dyno chart from before i bought it. and it had a bigger topmount and a vf34 pushing 285 at the wheels. i wish i would have gotten that.... haha. but no i get maybe 210? idk. i guess the man in me is saying "FASTER PUNK FASTER!!!" hahahaha
