Was in the market for a new car that had room for three, a car seat (occasionally), and AWD due to the Ohio weather. About a month ago I decided to find an LGT. This is one of the boards that helped me find the best match.

Have been a VW enthusiast since I was 15. Up until about a year ago, VW was all I had ever owned (11 in total).

So far I love the car! The dealer surprised me a little by leaving out that the car had been modified. Eventually the sales manager left me an offer I couldn't refuse. Mostly based on prices I see on here and from other dealers.

I noticed some other things that still have me a little concerned:

strange exhaust - haven't been under it yet, but it is relatively quiet. The tips are terrible though.
TMIC is missing a few bolts - guessing previous owner was running something aftermarket.
Smells like it is running rich.
Seems to be something else missing in the passenger side corner of the engine bay. Everything works, and no CEL, but there is definitely a bracket with nothing attached.

Finally pics. These are from the dealer. New pictures will be taken on my next day off.

Welcome! Update your profile to put your city and state in...

Get some pics of the engine bay, maybe we can help you identify some things. :)

Get an accessport to tune the car. If you want one let me know, it will be cheaper than anywhere else. Take the time to go through the car and just check hoses and all connections. Also replace any missing bolts, once you go through it and change a few things you will be more than satisfied with your purchase. To be honest when I bought my 98 L mechanically it was in rough shape. Blown struts worn bushings weak breaks and clutch. My car is fun to drive, I still need to do a few more things obviously but its in a different place from when I first bought it. You have a good year and model to work with, just read up and ask many questions.

Thank for the info. I went ahead and updated my profile.

I was using the Torque app with a bluetooth OBDII scanner today and hit 15.6 lbs! That has me much more paranoid about the turbo. I have been babying it around town which, oddly enough, still leaves me smiling.

Stock Subaru exhaust systems are very quiet. For something a little better, consider the SPT exhaust, or check around for used systems for the Legacy GTs, there's quite a few out there.

Does it smell rich all the time or just when you first run it? If it's all the time, definitely get a tune. Even if it's not, Subaru (and turbos especially) vehicles tend to run rich.

And welcome! Not many 4th gen owners here, it's nice to see new people!
