So my girlfriends 92 EJ22 decided to give up on the headgaskets. So I am going to put new ones on and do cam seals and all the timing belt parts.

Couple questions. When I pull the heads off I am going to have them resurfaced and if there are any bad vavles in there I am going to replace them.

Should I just replace the bad valves if there are any? Or should I just do all of them with new seals and keepers/retainers?

Also what is a list of parts that I should do in the heads? I tried to look on google and never found anything solid.

Definitely get the valves adjusted while you're in there. The lifters are notorious for ticking after a while.

Has HLA's.

What I meant for parts are what do I need to do for a full headrebuild?
Valves
Valve Seals
Valve retainers

What else?

Why don't you just buy used heads? For the money into a stock ej22 I don't think its worth it. Id sell you my old heads but they are high mileage.

headgasket failure wont ruin your valvetrain..

If the motor has been overheated your heads could be warped..

I know lots of "backyard mechanics" who just sand the heads by hand and just slap on the H/G and off they go..

I never do this but again if you can afford $600 for cleaning, inspecting, replacing worn out items like "lockers/collets/keepers" and a good ol' decking.. then backyard special is the way to go..

Reason has a point.. its an EJ22... just find a low mileage wreck in the junkyard and go nuts :-D
