Anyone done Cabin Filter Addition?

I searched and came up with the thread from SubiMods doing a Forester upgrade. However, I didn't find anyone here with a BD/BK/BG that had done it. I'm not saying it doesn't exist here (matter of fact, if you find the thread, please PM me or post it here) or otherwise, just looking for some additional help.
Mainly what I'm looking for:
What filter to use (Ie. Impreza,Forester, 2k +up Leggy???)
What was the biggest "modification" to your factory box you had to do?
And what's the skill level? (Obviously not for me, but for others who might want to try this too)



Any help/pics/info is greatly appreciated, as I NEED to do this.

I know right?? I was thinking of taking up smoking with them in the car and the windows rolled up!! :grin: Ungrateful little brats! They should be happy they won't have to pay for the smokes too! :lol:


Soon, it's going to be the type of weather, where I won't be able to crack the window. It feels stuffy and humid in the cabin of my car too. I was amazed when I found out, Subaru only offered after 99? IIRC.

I think with the Legacy cabin filters came around in 2000. If you are worried about dust and maybe mold spores and what not, I would get one of thos car bombs that kill all that shit and eliminates smoke and mold. Use it with the system on. Then spray all the vents out with an air compressor, and then for good measure drop another bomb.

Problem is, I did. And you know how it is with Niko. It's not smoke or mold etc... it's the dust and the feel as if it's stuffy in the car. As if somewhere it's clogged. I checked the duct work, and it's not. Swapped the air filter, cleaned out the intake from near the windshield, blew out the entire car (trunk and vents included) and still get that stuffy thick feel to the air in the cabin when it rains and dust build up on other days.
I'll figure it out tho. Thanks guys.

it should be possible just try to look at how similar the 1 gen Impreza blower system is to the legacy's and go from there.

Have you checked the AC? (If you have that ofcourse)
The lines have to be flushed and refrigerant cleaned/replaced.
The AC dryer might also be worn out.
