Hey I was just wanting to ask, could oil that has collected and been in areas of a car like areas of the underside be all built up from ether a past oil leak or seepage and while the car is hot e burning and have a rubber burning like smell to it?

I'm having something like this happening to my subie. I guess there is a chance it could be a leak but my oil level is always the same it hasn't changed at all. This has been going on for awhile but just lately gotten notice able. Today when I got home from work is when it smelled burnt extra hard and it’s never been that strong before.

put a piece of cardboard under it overnight.
Check in AM...

Also, if you slammed it recently, check your axles etc... for rubbing.

No Its not that this been going on way before I slammed it and I cleaned the main area where its all like milting down to before I slammed it because I though I had a leak but then after cleaning it nothing dripped down untill yesterday is when I noticed it doing it again. And I Did put down a flat peace of wood.

Yeah theres been dye in my oil but I haven't had the time to take it somewhere that has a UV light.

lol It might be the valve cover gaskets but I'm going to get a full clean out on the underside to see where exactly its coming from. I'm just not leaking engine oil I think Im also leaking the oil thats for the differential from one of those gaskets and theres a few other places it could be coming from.

I just had my oil pump seal done .... that was causing some oil seepage on the underside of my engine.

How was yours seeping out? because the way its all over the underside makes it look like its not coming from there but I at the same time wouldn't truly know how it looks when the oil pump seal is leaking and the oil pump is mainly covered buy the oil pan isn't it? Or is there another area where it could be coming from.
