This weekend I am repainting my spoiler I got. It is already the same color as my car just needs a respray. My question is what is the best process for going about this? I bought color match spray paint and come clear coat. It is going to be around 40 degrees and sunny. Should I use primer or just sand the existing paint on the spoiler or both? Also should I use the heat gun to "bake" it after each coat since it will be cool out?

Don't even bother.

HAHA. OK. That is what I started thinking. Looks like might have to wait a few months til it warms up again.

Yeah, either that or do it in a big shed/garage with some heat. The paint needs at least 60 degrees constant, in order to flash properly. And painting it outside is a no no.

Spend your time sanding the old spoiler. Locate an indoor place to paint and let dry...

I have a nice big garage but its not heated. I think at most it will get sanded this weekend.

Are you using a rattle can or spray gun? If the spoiler don't have anything wrong with it or its paint, just sand it with 500 grit, just enough to dull out the paint for adhesion. You don't need to primer it, you can use a sealer to be safe but you don't have to.

The paint on is horribly oxidized. I am going to use a rattle can. I bought it from http://www.automotivetouchup.com/. I've used there paint before on a grill and it turned out pretty good.

Don't paint until we get above 60 again...that's not anytime soon down here. I would try to wetsand and polish for the time being. Trust me, I feel your pain. I keep looking at the welder thinking about how awesome it would be to go wingless right now.

OK. The spoiler is painted and looks decent except the can of clear coat was running out on the last coat. This made it kinda spotty and not too great. I will try to get a pic in the day light tomorrow. Would wet-sanding and buffing help it or should I buy another can of clear?
