Here are the pics of:
1) Legacy Touring Concept (the Legacy wagon of the future)
2) S206
3) A lot of BRZ (pronounced "Bee-are-zed" I found out)
4) Subaru engines (turbo diesel and the BRZ's "D-4S")
I'm using thumbnails so it doesn't turn into an annoyingly long post. People should use thumbnails more often....

1) Legacy Touring Concept:
I wish I had taken video of the entire presentation. It was quite well done. Too bad almost none of this will make production.

2) S206
I really liked this. In fact, I went here first when the doors opened in the morning. Since everybody else went to the BRZ, I had it all to myself for a little bit. I was so absorbed in it that I didn't take as many pictures as I would've liked. :-(

3) BRZ
There were so many people wanting to get in, that I had to get a ticket to spend some time inside the BRZ. I was a little disappointed that they rolled out an Automatic for everybody to see. There was another BRZ on the dias and I took pictures of that too. I went to the Toyota 86 (just '86', not GT86), but the line was longer than I cared to stand for. I overheard somebody say something to the effect of "the BRZ from Subaru is the same as this, but not as popular". Whatever.

4) Engines
Being non-mechanically oriented, I wasn't sure what people would want to see pictures of. So I snapped off a few from different angles and moved on. :smt006

Turbo diesel:

The brz needs to grt away from that n/a crap. A car that gressive needs to have at least a turbo or a bigger engine. Really nice pics though.

I think that the touring concept looked good until they opened the doors, but as you said most of that will not get into production.
Pics of the BRZ are always awesome, is this the for real production car now, as in if you buy one that is what you will get?
The engine pics got me to do some research. The engine is actually a Subaru FA engine with Toyota D-4s technology. It looks similar to the FB engines but (according to wikipedia anyways) it shares little in common with the engine as far as internal; different block, heads, connecting rods, and pistons.

That is the BRZ that will be sold here (Japan). I am sure that there will be some differences with the one sold over there. And yeah, the engine code is 'FA'. Right next to that was the FB16, but I figured nobody would be interested so I didn't bother taking pictures.

I don't think it will. The transmission is only rated for "medium torque". I think they would have to make a new transmission in order to support high power applications. I doubt the transmissions from the EJ engines can be swapped in.

Yeah apparently there is very little room for a turbo, a Subaru guy said if you relocated the battery (now it's low and rear of engine bay) you might be able to do it. So it doesn't look likely. People whinge about the power but it has more power than the MX-5 (Miata) for quite a bit less money (at least in Oz).

As for impressions - it's very cozy in there. It reminds me of being in a PRHT NC Miata, but with an added "shelf" behind you to put stuff.

Oh well, you can beef it up in other ways. Power to weight ratio and balance is what makes this car awesome, not some huge ass turbo with lag. They SHOULD have done this to a 2.5L

looks like they went to a 4-2-1 EL header for the brz...i wonder how many kiddies will put UEL's on that thing to get their precious "rumble"

I was wrong, the engine in the backround of the last picture of the FA20 is the FB16. You don't get much detail (because it's in the backround), but that's basically the engine in the Impreza G4 (sedan) and Impreza Sport (hatchback/wagon).

Ok why compare a mx-5 to a brz? The miata weight what 2700 lbs and the brz has to be around 3100-3200?

Hmm, it didn't look any bigger than the current Legacy in person. I think the styling gives it a "bigger look", if that makes any sense.

*sigh*, I remember my first Miata. A 1950lb '91 w/out A/C. The NA Miata may've looked "girly", but it was the best thing ever to drive next to the Cappuccino. These NC Miatas are just big.

The BRZ weighs 2700 lbs. The whole point of the car is light weight. the MX-5 is probably its closest competition
