Hi, um well... what to type :-?

Okay! Hi, i've been reading the forums on and off for a while and learned quite a bit, so about two months ago i picked up my second Subaru legacy, and now i figured i should register and perhaps participate a bit on the forums.

Anyway, my first subaru was also my first car, it was a slow litte 1990 sedan with an 1.8 litre engine, worked quite well with the AWD for the two years i owned it, but it did not have enough power! So about two months ago i purchased my second, a 1992 turbo wagon, with the ej20g intercooled engine.
It's a great car, but it needs abit of work, mainly rust! but it's nothing a bit of patience and two working hands cant take care of.

Way cool! All of us would love to have the ability to get factory turbo'd 1st or 2nd gens, so consider yourself fortunate. And welcome to SLi!

Did you buy the Turbo wagon from a fellow enthusiast?

I'm curious about the EJ20G swap as that's not the stock engine. Heard lots of good things about that EJ20G.

Didn't buy it from an enthusiast, but the owner before him, was.
The guy i bought i from had only used it for a little while then let it sit indoors for about a year since he had bought himself an Audi.

The enthusiast was a subaru mechanic aswell, so he's the guy who changed the head gaskets and chip tuned it, aswell as fitting a Bov and boost controller, pretty sure he built the 3 inch exhaust,

Regarding the EJ20G, it is the stock engine in the Japanese and European legacy, only the American legacy's got the underpowered 2.2 turbo. The ej20 is a great engine, but i cant answer about swapping one.

I think the EJ22 turbo was just underturbo'd. The engine itself can take a lot of boost. The EJ20G had much better flow in the heads, and an intercooler stock (the 22 didn't). I'm sure on an older car without so many OBDII gadgets, a swap wasn't that hard. Interesting...
