Yes. Use the Aircraft stripper.

Yeah.. get the GEL aircraft stripper. The stuff in the cans is good, but for a bit more, you can get the container of the stuff and its more efficient. Plus, you can get it into places that your not able to with the aerosol version. Once you stip all the paint you can clear the wheels. Or polish then clear them. Good luck!

Thanks, Okin (the paint man) sent me a text with all the information. I already have the gel stripper.

I bought a set of 16" snowflakes off a guy who had painted them with two heavy coats of black. He did a scabby job and it's chipping off here and there. Was wondering, are the snowflakes silver painted or just straight up aluminum? It would be nice to apply some aircraft remover or paint remover to remove the isht black paint job and having them OEM silver again without sanding, and repainting. Would anybody know anything about this, or is my only option sanding 'em down and repainting them silver?

They are silver. After using aircraft stripper i would at least sand tyem then clear them. Shouldnt take much work.

You never primed the wheels?

Take a power washer.. set it to high.. go nuts.

No I can see the OEM silver under the two layers of black that are chipping off. No indication of any primer. You know what? Pressure washing them is a great idea actually! Too bad it's -20'C today haha. For now they'll be sitting around anyway, so I have until spring to deal with them. I'll probably end up sanding them and repainting them. White, silver, or maybe just coat of clear.

Well if you're going to paint/clear them, then just stick with stripping them. Leave the stripper on for it's time duration (read directions for the allotted time) then use a power washer (be sure to wear eye protection) for an even easier way to strip them totally clean since they don't have primer. Otherwise, if the previous owner sanded them, they might still bond with the factory finish.

Instead of a pressure washer, if you dont have one.. use 3m scuff pads. They work really good for super stuck on paint.

Yeah, but the powerwasher method is even faster for a set that has no primer. After, you could use the scuff pads to get any left over paint off. Either way is good, just that the scuff pad method takes a little longer.
