This must be old because the new subaru filters are JUNK. They are basically the same as FRAM now. Stay away from them. Go with NAPA Gold or Purolator PUREONE if you want a good one! i'm sure you guys know that tho! :smt023

Yeah.. NAPA Gold are WIX I'm pretty sure. Would be cool to find out for sure, but those are the ones I usually use. They work great.

Purolator PUREONE are also really good, and usually readily available as well.

I stay away from the subaru filters myself, just picking one up I can tell they are cheap. They feel just as light as the FRAM filters and look like terrible quality JUNK!

Thanks guys my auto parts guy. (Trusted) said the frams are really good, but i will trust the facts and leave it in the box and get a purolator. Anyone want it? Lol.

Back in the 90's, Consumer reports rated Fram as the "Best Value" and they were a decent filter at a cheap price. Obviously Honeywell took that and ran, cutting all sorts of corners while their sales went through the roof. We never use Fram on any of our cars anymore. Good to know the Purolators are good, that's what I've been using for years.

No problem. I actually think we should put them all up together as a sticky and add any new info/filters as we go. Maybe even mix it with the "What type of oil are you using?" threads. Just a thought.

This makes me want to cut my OEM subaru fuel filter open that I just pulled off last weekend. Makes me wonder whats in it. I think it MAY even have been the original with the car.. or better yet, as old as I can remember! :lol:

Didnt someone start a thread a long while back about oil filters and started cutting them open as an experiment here? Shane maybe?

Yea I was going to do it, seeing this thread makes me want to do it. With the different size filter I'm sure there will be some small differences. I'll pick up a few filters and do this just for shits. The hard part will be writing up a report. I usually get focused and dont take pics or take notes, but I'll do this with some filters I use or am just curious about. If anyone has a filter they want me to toss in the mix feel free to donate. I'm not going to buy 40 filters like this other guy did lol

You know what we should do.. just start a thread where people cut up their oil filters, write a review, and then add it to the thread. We'll get all sorts of brands that way, and you wont have to buy any / many.

I'll cut open my subaru brand one next time I change my oil, which will be soon. Only reason i got this POS is because they were doing oil changes for $20 and I felt lazy. Next time its back to the NAPA GOLD and I will review that as well if someone hasn't by then.
