My least favorite thread, by FAR!

Hello,

This will come to a shock to many of you...some of you may not care. But I've decided to kill my swap project. over budget, over time and wayyy over patience.

the plan was:
1995 Legacy wagon, dark blue
JDM Ver8 motor with twin scroll turbo
JDM 6MT w/ suretrac and non-DCCD

and a whole boat load of supporting mods. I've been collecting pieces for close to 1.5 yrs now; and now its ALL got to go (well, except for some pieces).

What am I doing next? Not sure. I've got to sell all my stuff before I make my next move.

Yes, the motor and tranny are up for sale, but I'm not shipping them. I'm in southern New Hampshire, if you're interested, PM me, we'll talk.

And oh yeah, I sold the 98 GT back in January and have replaced it with a 2000 Tacoma...which was working out splendidly for moving parts to and from storage. Why did I sell the 98? piston slap. bad.

The 98 GT was never the intended vehicle for the swap. I wanted to make an uber-wagon out of the 95. Dark blue, cause there was no black in 95.

Why 95? no emissions testing. Why does that matter? Cause I was to run pure JDM ECU (reflashed) and go from there.

There, all secrets are out.

All for not. Oh well, live and learn. yeah, I spent a couple days peeved after making this realization, but am seeing it as a turn for the better possibly.

Anyways, the 95 blue wagon is kickass.

I think you're wrong about emissions, though, they are OBDII cars...unless the state just mandates that all 96+ vehicles have to test, not all OBDII cars...

Anyways, I wouldn't mind seeing you make that wagona beast. And TTIWWOP.

I know the 95 is OBD2, but the EPA has mandated that only 96+ cars HAD to be OBD2, therefore anyone who had it beforehand, is exempt. In NH, they only follow the minimum of what the Federal Gov wants.

Therefore, drop any stock looking drivetrain into the 95 Legacy and you really shouldn't need to worry about getting plugged in for testing.

It would have been far worse had I actually FOUND the car and started tearing it apart.

No, I still didn't have the car.....I was too picky about getting a pristine shell....no, I didn't care about tranny, mileage or condition of suspension or brakes...as they were all going.

Listen or not, its over. When my gut (2nd brain) wrenches over a decision, I listen. After making this choice, I've been able to sleep again, so I know I've made the right call.

Soooo, if you feel bad, help me out and buy some stuff.

Whats also hurting me is that you and I don't live on the same continent as I would have driven over to buy some of the stuff like motor etc :( :(

Nooooooooooo is right!! What do you figure you've spent in total to date, and how much more do you figure it would've cost? I wish I didn't spend 600 bucks fixing my 5spd or I woulda loved to have taken that 6spd of your hands. Sorry to hear about everything Matt, any chances of getting another Legacy to keep the love alive? If not I vote honorary member of the SLI community for life, regardless of ownership status, you know more about the technical aspects of our cars than the best of us, and you are a vital resource to our site! I hope you stick around buddy!
