1998 bd sedan 2.2l and i think the power steering pump is leaking, level never seems low but... it always takes more if i add some,. also wen it is low.. i assume its low, wen i start the car it starts like shiiit till it gets to a nice temp, any help is appreciated, best advice would be how to get rid of powersteering completely, dont like how it feels on the highway to touchy..
thanks for reading

will have a vid of the shiiiiit start soon

The car not starting up should not be an issue related to the power steering pump leak. That may be something else.

My power steering pump leaks as well, and has.. we'll.. forever it seems. It doesnt seem to cause any issues and leaks out super slowly. I think mine leaks from where the tank connects to the pump itself. If yours is leaking, you will see red fluid below the power steering pump, mine likes to pool near where the engine stamp is. I have the EJ25 engine however, but yours should be super similar if not the same.

I'm not sure if its the o-ring underneath the reservoir or inside the pump itself. Have you tried to replaced yours?

Oil change, fuel filter change. Use 5w30 oil in colder climates, 10w40 other seasons.

I had to replace the pump, lines, and rack & pinion in order to get mine to stop leaking.
Possibly the most frustrating leak to solve.

Nah.. I've never bothered. I just fill it every now and again. Its such a slow leak that I don't really care that much. It would take years for it to empty out. It still leaks.. and I intend to keep it that way

You could swap one from the same series engine as yours. So 2.5L EJ25 or 2.2L EJ22.. I'm pretty sure that would work. But, I'm not 100% certain..however most subaru engines are pretty similar and probably use the same parts.

Pretty much all Subaru pumps are backwards, and forwards compatible, if you have the lines that go with the pump.
