I'm thinking about it. The guy says it has 182,000 miles on the odo. Stock except for turbo back exhaust. He just rebuilt the engine and he is a mechanic so he "pretty much" knows what he is doing. One thing I hate about things like this is I'll put the engine in an it will throw a bearing because it wasn't installed properly or something. If I bought it, it would be a project and nothing more. I would put the engine in, drive it for a couple weeks and then sell it, hopefully make a couple hundred on it. I'm just looking to see what you think about it.

Buy it.
Keep engine.
Sell shell so as not to blend in with everyone.
swap 2liter in BE
Go to Racewars....

Seriously tho, looks like a good deal if you can get the price down just a little more. With the motor out, inspection of it shouldn't be hard, that's if it is on a stand or stored properly. Also makes it easier to see if there is any other prior damage to the sub-frame etc... up front. Check for cut wires. If there are any, don't be afraid to walk away. I'm sure you'll find another in drive-able condition for the same money.

not a bad price, but even myself, I have not tried to re-build a boxer motor.

As a flip, you could make some good money off of it though. As long as the motor was good...

Wait a minute... He says "don't want to sell, just seeing what's out there". So would they why post an ad if they don't want to sell? :smt017

Good price. I'd buy it and restore it.

It's an 02 with nearly 200,000 miles on what appears to be the original transmission. I wouldn't buy it. The 2.0 liter wasn't really the issue with the first year WRXs; it was the trans...

ya I decided to pass this up because first of all the issue of not knowing what the engine would be like, the fact that the guy really doesn't want to sell it, the high mileage on the odo. and it is over 2 hours away from me.
It would definitely be cool if I could just put the engine in, a days job, and make a couple grand, lol but with my luck the engine would grenade and then I would have a months project.

yeah not worth it at all. I jsut traveled for 3 hours one way up to Morgantown, WV to check out a "Mint perfectly running WRX" and it was mint. It just had chocolaty oil that smelled of gas. The owner swore he didn't smell the gas and all it needed was an oil change. I told him he has bad headgaskets.

it's still for sale for 7,250 or so on nasioc. Its a PSM bugeye.
